This 3-Day Workout Builds More Muscle Than 6-Day Splits
Training 6 days a week isn't better — it's just more. Here's the 3-day full-body program that delivers better results for busy men.
More Isn't Better — Better Is Better
The fitness industry convinced everyone that you need to train 6 days a week to build a great physique. It's not true. Research consistently shows that training frequency of 2-3x per muscle group per week is optimal for hypertrophy — and a 3-day full-body program hits this perfectly.
Why Full-Body Beats Bro Splits
A traditional bro split (chest Monday, back Tuesday, etc.) hits each muscle once per week. A full-body program hits every muscle 3 times per week. More frequent stimulation = more muscle protein synthesis = more growth.
A meta-analysis by Schoenfeld et al. found that training a muscle 2+ times per week produced significantly greater hypertrophy than once per week, even when total volume was matched.
The Program
Day 1 (Monday)
Day 2 (Wednesday)
Day 3 (Friday)
The Rules
1. Progressive overload is everything. Add weight or reps every session. If you did 60kg bench for 3x6 last week, aim for 3x7 or 62.5kg this week. Track every session.
2. Each session is 45-60 minutes. Get in, train hard, get out. No scrolling between sets.
3. Rest 2-3 minutes between compound lifts. You need full recovery to perform. Rest 60-90 seconds on isolation work.
4. Recovery is part of the program. Sleep 7-8 hours. Eat enough protein. Take rest days seriously.
Why This Works for Busy Men
3 sessions per week. 3 hours total. You hit every muscle 2-3 times. You have 4 full rest days. You can train Monday/Wednesday/Friday and have your weekends completely free.
This is the program I've run with over 100 clients. It works for the guy working 50-hour weeks who can't afford to live in the gym. And the results speak for themselves.
Stop Doing More
The best program is the one you'll actually follow — consistently, for months. A 6-day program you quit after 3 weeks loses to a 3-day program you run for a year. Every single time.
